Todays Picks
Downpatrick 2.20 Gordon Elliott runs 3 in this race with Sounds of Thunder seeming to be the best judging by jockey bookings. However, I feel this race can goto Red Sparky who was betan in it's last 2 outings by Unaccompanied and Sam Winer, 2 horse that went to the festival. There is nothing in this race of that calibre and Red Sparky can go on to gain it's victory over hurdles current odds 2/1
Downpatrick 3.50 Knocklayde Euro has the master horseman up top in Ruby Walsh, however, it is the one at the bottom of the weights that interests me. Hoochie Mama, was sent off favourite lto and just failed to get it's head in front. Fitted with blinkers for the first time today, hopefully will bring about the improvement required to gain victory. Current Odds 5/1
Leopardstown 2.30 An interesting race, where Ballydoyle's Wonder of Wonders is likely to go off a short priced favourite. The one I like here though is Sikara who looked good on debut at Roscommon last year. Another plus is that the selection is trained by Tommy Stack, who generally has his horses ready to go this time of year and stable is in good heart after 2 winners on the opening day of the flat season last weekend Current Odds 7/1
Leopardstown 3.30 A very tight handicap race where Solent ridge is an intersting runner on jockey bookings. However, the one I will be going with here is Slade (NAP), who seems to have a fair mark for handicap debut. Current Odds 9/2
Leopardstown 4.00 This is an intriging trial race and one where a few have a chance. History Note and Wild Wind would not be without chances, but the horse with the best form in this race is Katla. The only issue would be whether 7f is too far as Katla has done all it's winning at shorter distance. Current Odd 10/1
Leopardstown 4.30 Gimli's Rock ran well in defeat last week and will be expected to improve on that run here. The one for me in this race though is Broad Meaning, who was off the track for 2 years before returning recently on the AW in England. Those runs will have got the horse fit and it can be made to be shown here today Current Odds 9/1

Wincanton 3.55 - THAT`LL DO (NAP) Finished 2nd behind Black Jack Blues in a bumper then won over C+D on good ground back in October, his jumping let him down last time when 3rd behind a couple of useful types, if he has improved his jumping then he will go close today. Also ike COCOZZA 3.00 Leopardstown and took the 10/3 last night. Best of luck all.

Leopardstown
2;30-Wonder Of Wonders(NAP)
A beautifully bred filly. Her dam was high class over 10f and 2nd in the Oaks. She is a sister to Galileo and Black Sam Bellamy who was a G1 winner over 1m4f.She is also a half sister to Sea The Stars. She only had one run at 2 where she finished 2nd despite running very green but she flew once she got the hang of things. She has wintered very well strengthening up in all the right places and giving Aiden all the right signs. She should make a winning reappearance here
3:30-Solent Ridge
Won easily at Naas and Sligo last year but was smashed by the handicapper and his mark in the mid 80's proved beyond his ability.Had dropped back down to 79 now but the wide draw is a concern.
4:00-History Note
Ran only once at 2 and won that Maiden very smartly over 7f cutting back another promising 2 yr old under just hand and heels. This Azamour filly should go very close here.
4:30-Celtic Dane
Won by a shiort head at Downroyal over 2m5f last summer and is now 2LB lower than his mak that day.Claimer up top takes 10LB off as well and will go very close here.

5.20 Wincanton A poor race to be honest but E STREET BOY (NAP) is a horse I have had in my notebook for a while. Since he has been sent hurdling it is obvious he hasn’t been running on merit during all of his races so far. In 2 of his 3 Novice hurdle starts he was held up right out the back of the field, the first start he wasn’t even asked to quicken or get in the race. The next time he was given a slap of the whip shaken up and pulled up rather quickly, wasn’t given a chance to respond to the pressure. On his final start in a novices hurdle totally different tactics were tried, he attempted to make all of the running travelling strongly until being headed two out and once again he was looked after once his chance was gone. I feel the soft ground went against him on his handicap debut where again he was prominent throughout the race. He did run well but weakened out off a mark of 92. His effort last time out was most pleasing though, back to the holdup tactics but this time asked to get in to the race (still a bit late for my liking though) and ran on well over 2m1 to finish 4th. He has been dropped 4lbs for that effort to a mark of 88 and with Conor O’Farrell taking off another 3lb he could be really well in here back up in trip and on a better surface. I expect him to take this weak race without much fuss – Current price 13-8 2.30 Leopardstown A decent start to the card with all of the top stables represented. Most with racing experience have shown lots of promise so far, none more than WONDER OF WONDERS who looked to have plenty of ability when quickening up very smartly indeed to come from miles back to look an unlucky 2nd under hands and heels riding here back in October. The step up to 1m2f is only going to suit her and this wonderfully bred filly should get off the mark at the second time of asking. She has a lot of big entries and it would be no surprise at all to see this one develop in to a group class filly. Aidan O’Brien looks to have his string a lot more forward than he has done for a while now at this stage of the season which is another positive. Current price 7-4 2 singles and a double Best of luck all

3:40 Hexham - Rolecarr (current best price 10/1).
(Has a bit of a squeak this one. Trip should be no problem and good jockey on board).
