I fully understand the reasons why people will bet Ante-post, including the risks involved. What I wanted to know is how far ahead people place their ante-post bets, and when they think it is worth the risk.
I for one very rarely place any bets ante-post, but that is through my own personal choice of waiting for the day?
What are other peoples opinions on this subject?

I can see why someone would do it to get really good odds , but personally its not for me

It's all about trying to get one over on the bookies! Small stakes provide an interest throughout the season, but it is just not worth the risk of big stakes with the amount of factors that could ruin your bet. Best waiting for NRNB but by that time the outstanding value has usually gone. Clever chaps those bookies!!

I have never really been a fan of ante-post. However I am old school, and I can see some merit in betting to lay, now that there are places like Betfair. It's just to complicated for my pea brain to take in though

ive only bet once ante post and that was a fiver each way a couple years back on garde champetre to win cross country and grand national. he did the first part and was delighted, he was even cut in price from 40/1 to 33/1 for the national but then he got withdrawn and went for the irish national instead along with my fiver each way. wont do it again
