So we are at the half way stage of the semi fianls in the Champions League. The teams now know what is up against them as both away teams in the first legs secured 2-0 victorys. One a bit easier than the other...
Shalke 04 was the team playing United on Tuesday and they nearly lived up to the name... It should have been 4-0 to United had they not wasted as many chances... Giggs should have score a hat trick. Carrick looked a world beater he had so much time on his hands. And i dont think Vidic or Ferdinand would have had an easier game than they did in germany before. European away games are meant to be challenge, especially when its a semi final... This was as easy an away trip as it gets for United and they will finish off the job next week with another comfortable win. If your a United fan, book the 28th of May off in your diary, for you shall be going...!!!
As good as United were, Shalke were equally disappointing... United 2nd favs 13/8
El Classico was anything but were it not for the little magician Messi... He was just simply the best thing on the pitch. God knows what the establishment at Real were thinking when Jose sent out a team of hatchet men to stop this passing machine calle Barca. This is no Galactico team, but they behaved and played like a team with very few things in mind... Kill em, win at all costs, do what you have to do... Xavi Alonso who once graced the premiership with sublime passing and deft touches is now the closest thing to a spanish Lee Bowyer...!!! Thank god that Carvalho wasnt playing. He wouldnt last 10 minutes with his cynical pulling of shirts and diving into submission... But the rest of the team lived up to his reputation... Arbeloa, Ramos and Marcello all sould have gone ealier than there team mate Pepe.
But to be fair we have to balance it up with the fact that Barca had a few theatrical actors on their side of the fence and angels they were not...
But the difference was that Barca knew what they had, and used him... Messi v Ronaldo was a mismatch. Barca always looked to get the ball to the little man and work off him. Real just didnt excercise the right to give or allow Ronaldo the ball or freedom of the Bernabau...
And so it was to the little man that ultimatley has Barca one step away from a re match with United form 2009...
Barca 8/15 to win it
1/20 for a Man - Barca final...
The bookies have made up their minds who it will be... If only it was that simple...!!!
