With the start of the Premiership next weekend and the football league starting this weekend gone i just thought id look at the potential winners of the respective leagues...
Premiership...
Again it looks like the usual suspects will be there again at the top. Man Utd will be tough to get ahead of this year, but to me its more of the pretenders to the crown lacking the team to get ahead of Man Utd that will ultimatley deciede this years title race.
Mancheter United - 7/4
A unbeleiveable home record last year was crucial to Man Utd's title last year with the away pefromances being somewhat shoddy at times. If they improve on there away form then they will be very hard to stop this year, but on the flip side will they also repeat last years 18 wins and only 1 draw at home?
Chelsea - 11/4
The new manager, AVB, will have to sort out the big problem of who to play up front. The Drogba, Torres formation didnt look like hitting it off at the back end of last season, but i think that the Torres move upset Drogba and maybe he went into that sulk mode that we know that he has. Defensively they still look strong, but again its the front 6 and how to balance a side that has its fair share of mood swingers. AVB has some big selection headaches but ultimatley if they arnt up to speed by xmas then he might not get the chance to solve that equation...
Man City - 7/2
Again its the manager that controls the destiny of where this team will end up. Has he got that ambition to unleash what looks a very attacking team on paper, but his reluctance to play that style seems to hinder than rather release what he has in the squad. He still has faith in the Mad Man Balotelli and looks to play it safe when i little more ambition could reap greater rewards. I dont think the Tevez future will make a great deal of difference in making a top 4 place, but it will be hard to win the league without him.
Arsenal - 9/1
Jeez where do i start...!!! The Fabregas goings on cant help. The fact that his best striker dosnt play because he is injured every season. The defence is paper thin. Less said about the goalie situation the better, though i do like the Polish kid Szczesny, they have had problems there for a while now. But we all know that if all the boxes get ticked in the season and things go well for them they will have a great chance of spoiling the title race or even winning it...!!!
Liverpool - 10/1
Can King Kenny bring back the glory days to Anfield...? Well not this season, but maybe soon. He has brought in new players to freshen it up but again they look a little light in the defence. The kids coming through need time to claim a place as 1st choice, and how will he sort out the front 6 to get the best out of them. The fans are expectant, and so is the new owner. Top 4, probablly, but not guarenteed...
Tottenham 40/1
It could go two ways for the Spurs. Struggle to break the top 4 and finish in the minor places again or a repeat of the run that got them there 2 seasons ago. With a forward line up that isnt quick or have a 25 goal partnership upfront, top 6 and Europa league will be the best they can get.
Top 6 potentials include Everton and maybe Sunderland. Villa may struggle for a top 8 and the rest just seem to fighting to stay in the league. It all brings to us who will fill in the positions...
Champions - Man United
Runners Up - Man City
3rd place - Chelsea
4th place - Liverpool
